MID-WEEK SERMON BY SAMUEL NKIRE

DON’T LOOK FOR GOLD, LOOK FOR GOD

Matthew 6:33 says: “But seek first the kingdom of God and all His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.”

*What this passage means is that when you seek first the kingdom through Christ, all the good things of life which others have, will surely be given (added) to you.”

*It also means that we should look for God first before looking for silver and gold. As Christians, once we believe in the kingdom (Jesus) and His righteousness, we are guaranteed ‘all these things’ we seek.

*According to Matthew 6:31-32, Jesus said: “Therefore, do not worry, saying, what shall we eat, or what shall we drink? Or what shall we wear . . . For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things.”

*God knows that His children want and need all the good things of life, including mansions, limousines, yachts and private jets. But He goes on to advise that we should not worry and struggle about these things to a point where we begin to offend our neighbours and God in the process of acquiring them.

*Deuteronomy 28:12 says: “The Lord will open to you His good treasure, the heavens, to give the rain to your land in its season, and to bless all the work of your hand. You shall lend to many nations, but you shall not borrow”.

*You don’t need to overstretch yourself to acquire the good things of life, or struggle to get them at all costs. God has made you promises about the good things of life which ‘others’ also seek. *Remember He never fails on promise. Never !
