YOUR FAITH IS ACCOUNTED FOR RIGHTEOUSNESS

*Many of us believe that the harder we work, the more righteous we become. No, the gospel of Jesus Christ says that it is not so.*Romans 4:5 says: “But to him who does not work, but believes on Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is accounted for righteousness.”

*If you believe you are the one who does not work but believes in Jesus Christ who justifies the ungodly, then your faith (believing) is accounted for you as righteousness.

*From the quotation above, righteousness is not acquired from what you do, but from what you believe. *2Corinthians 5:21 says: “For He (God) made Him (Jesus) who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him (Jesus Christ).

*Having taken our sins, which were burnt off on the Cross, and given us His righteousness in return, we became His righteousness by faith forever; not because of what we did or will do, but because of what He did for our sake on the Cross of Calvary.

*Galatians 2:16 says: “Knowing that a man is not justified by work of the law but by faith in Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, that we might be justified by faith in Christ and not by works of the law; for by the works of the law no flesh shall be justified.”

*He who does not work but believes in Jesus Christ and His finished work (sacrifice) on the Cross; which is embodied in His gospel, is justified according to the new covenant of the gospel of Jesus Christ (Romans 4:5-8).

*Righteousness is not about right doing or living, it is a gift of God not earned through work but through faith in God through Christ our redeemer and saviour (Ephesians2:8-9).
