BE HAPPY WHEN YOUR NEIBOUR IS REJOICING
*The concept of being happy when your neighbours are happy, and mourning when they mourn can be weaved around the biblical teaching of lovingly your neighbour as yourself.
*According to Mark 12:13, Jesus said:”And the second, like it, is this: You shall love your neighbour as yourself; there is no other commandment greater than these”.
*When you rejoice because your neighbour is rejoicing, it means that whatever touches your neighbour touches you; whether good or bad.
*Another portion of the Bible in which God enjoins us to be happy or sad when our neighbours or friends are rejecting or not is in Romans 25:2-3 which says:”Let each of us please his neighbour for his good, leading to edification. For even Christ did not please Himself; but as it is written; “the reproach of those who reproached you fell on Me”.
*For the love Jesus had for us, the burden or reproach of the sin we committed fell on Him who knew no sin. Jesus stood by us and took the punishment meant for us.
*Believers are told that heaven is full of joy and rejoicing; but before we go to heaven, let us read about what happened when John the Baptist was born in Luke 1:57-58: “Now Elizabeth’s full time came for her to be delivered and she brought forth a son. When the neighbours and relatives heard how the Lord bad shown great mercy to her, they rejoiced with her”.
*Be happy when your neighbour is rejoicing. This is the will of God.
