Alcaraz Withdraws From Davis Cup Final 8 as Injury Reshapes Bologna Line-Up

By Tolu James

Spain’s world number one, Carlos Alcaraz, has pulled out of this week’s Davis Cup Final 8 in Bologna after doctors advised him against playing due to swelling in his right hamstring. The 22-year-old confirmed the development on X, expressing disappointment at missing national duty, which he described as a privilege he never takes lightly.

His withdrawal comes shortly after his defeat to Italy’s Jannik Sinner in the ATP Finals showdown in Turin. But Sinner, too, will be absent from the Davis Cup, leaving Italy without their biggest weapon. The hosts also suffered another blow with Lorenzo Musetti stepping away as he prepares for the arrival of his child.

International Tennis Federation CEO Ross Hutchins noted that the three high-profile withdrawals, though unusual, were driven by circumstances that “make sense” this season.

With Spain and Italy forced into late adjustments, the battle in Bologna now shifts to Austria, France, Belgium, Czech Republic, Argentina and Germany each looking to seize the opportunity and push for the Davis Cup crown.

  1. Been playing on W88 sites for a while. Gave w88a a shot. Feels familiar but with a slightly different vibe. It’s always good to have another option! Definitely worth a look: w88a
