Pioneer member of the National Caucus of the ruling All Progressives Congress APC, Chief Sam Nkire has called on opposition political parties in the country to join President Bola Tinubu to lead a bipartisan emergency operation to fight the insecurity and economic hardship which the President inherited but presently grappling with.
Speaking with The New Outlook, Chief Nkire further appealed to Nigerians of all political divides to rise above politics and support Bola Tinubu to salvage the country from the insecurity and economic woos which has been with Nigeria even before the advent of Tinubu’s administration.
According to the APC stalwart, “now is the time for constructive ideas and not armchair criticisms or pontificating, which serve no useful purpose rather than help a bad situation plunge even further, just for cheap political gains. This is a clarion call for patriotic action by the opposition amidst an increasing need for the country to face its challenges together as a people”.
The Abia State-born politician, who was at some points National Secretary and National Chairman of the Progressive People’s Alliance PPA, the third largest political party in Nigeria in 2007, stated that time had past for, “disruptive blame-games among opposition political parties, which only succeeded in taking the hand of the clock backwards, in the past.
He acknowledged that: “these are indeed trying times for Nigeria’s opposition parties but I encourage those who remain and do not intend to cross-carpet to the ruling APC, to see supporting President Tinubu’s efforts as a National duty to save country”.
In another development, Chief Sam Nkire who was also the former leader of Abia State Caucus of the All Progressives Congress, has commended the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt Hon Ben Kalu for his dogged efforts in deepening President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda in the country in general and in the SouthEast Zone in particular.
The elderstatesman, said the Renewed Hope Agenda which is the multipurpose vehicle for delivering the President’s economic and security benefits, had been certified by both the IMF and the World Bank, and therefore, “is an agenda that needs home support, buying-in and keying-in”.
