POLITICAL LEADER AS KING-PRIEST
Psalms 110:4 says: “The Lord had sworn and will not relent, you are a priest forever after the order of Melchizedek.”
*King David was regarded, and actually functioned as both a political leader and a priest; in that he not only wore the priestly ephod dress but officiated at religious ceremonies, while being the king and political leader of Israel.
*David was a king in the order of Melchizedek, not of the Levitical order like Aaron and his descendants. David did so many good deeds for God and for the benefit of man, including taking care of the security and welfare of his people, the people of Israel.
*Nigerian political leaders have a lot of lessons to learn from king-priest figures like David and Jesus Christ who, as leaders of their time prioritized the lives and happiness of their people whom God put in their care to nurture and protect.
*King David as the President, Governor or political leader of Israel took actions to unify the nation and secure the borders against external aggression, in other to allow for peace and economic growth and development.
*1Chronicles 18:14 says: “So David reigned over all Israel, and executed judgment and justice among all his people. “
*Politicians, priests and all children of God are expected, as a matter of responsibility, to execute righteous judgment to all manner of persons placed under their jurisdictions, without decriminalisation on account of tribe, religion or selfishness.
*Every political leader, priest or king; Christian or not, in a position of authority, is answerable to the Almighty God at end of time. (2Corinthians 5:10).
