EVEN POLITICIANS ARE ENTITLED TO DOUBLE PORTIONS.
*Good leaders of the people such as politicians, kings and priests are also entitled to double portions, instead of shame and dishonour; when they serve well and not mess things up by taking or asking for more than a fare share.
*2Kings 2:9 says: “And so it was, when they had crossed over, that Elijah said to Elisha, ask what you may, that I do for you. Elisha said, please let a double portion of your spirit be upon me.”
*From the above passage, the lesson to learn is that every good worker or leader deserves and is entitled to a double portion and (or) a fare reward.
*The Bible went further in Isaiah 61:6 to say that leaders and people such as politicians, kings and priests shall be called servants of God and shall eat the riches of the world. This verse also teaches that they shall have double honours and possess double in their land.
*Just as we are given exalted positions and are entitled to double portions, we are also required to shoulder responsibilities which accompany our positions.
*Deuteronomy 16:19 says: “You shall not pervert justice; you shall not show partiality, nor take a bribe, for a bribe blinds the eyes of the wise and twists the words of the righteous.”
*Even though King David of Israel, like every other human was not perfect, the Bible in 1Chronicles 18:14 said: “So, David reigned over Israel, and administered justice and judgment to all his people.”
*Politicians, kings and priests may be entitled to double portions of both spiritual and material things, they are also required to dispense good judgment to people placed under them and not oppress them.
