…Advises Tinubu to make deal

A former ally and confidant of Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, Chief Sam Nkire has advised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to do what he can to bring back Kwankwaso to the ruling party, in other to further ensure his victory in the next presidential election.

In a statement to the media in Abuja, Chief Nkire who is a pioneer member of the National Caucus of the ruling All Progressives Congress APC, said, “although Tinubu may win in 2027, but Kwankwaso’s inclusion will just nail the coffin.”

Chief Nkire who supported Kwankwaso to run for President against Buhari in the APC ‘s presidencial primaries of 2014, added that, “President Tinubu should not have a problem reaching an agreement with Kwankwaso, being long-time friends and knowing the reason why Kwankwaso left the APC, in the first place.”

The APC elderstatesman recalled the many times he, in company of Kwankwaso visited the then National Leader of the APC, Bola Tinubu in 2014, seeking his support for Kwankwaso against the candidacy of Buhari; a request to which Tinubu repeatedly said, “I’m sorry, I have given my word to General Buhari.” 

On Kwankwaso’s conditions for joining or merging with APC, Nkire said he believed in President Tinubu’s ability to deal and negotiate either in business or political matters, adding that, “this deal sailing through will strengthen my belief that the next President will be a product of either a merger, a coalition or a collaboration.”

Chief Sam Nkire further stated that the former Kano State Governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso who came second at the APC primaries in 2014, left the party, after contributing in cash and kind, only to be excluded by President Muhammadu Buhari when Buhari formed his government. 

According to him, Former Vice-President, Atiku Abubakar, former Governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha and the late Publisher of Leadership newspapers, Sam Nda-Isaiah who also participated in the primaries were all excluded by Buhari who jettisoned the agreement he signed with co-contestants.
