Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has praised his fellow All Progressives Congress (APC) governors for their dedication to national progress, following the conclusion of the two-day Progressive Governors Forum (PGF) meeting hosted in Lagos.
Speaking at the closing session on Saturday, Sanwo-Olu said the extensive deliberations held by the governors demonstrated their unwavering commitment to strengthening governance and advancing President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
The forum, comprising governors elected on the APC platform, held a series of in-depth discussions that lasted over 12 hours. Sanwo-Olu expressed appreciation for the governors’ participation, noting that their contributions reflected genuine concern for the welfare of Nigerians.
“I must commend my colleagues for the seriousness they brought into this engagement. Spending long hours examining issues that affect our people is a testament to our shared vision for a stronger nation,” he said.
He also highlighted the sense of camaraderie displayed throughout the meeting, saying their cultural expressions and unity underscored the diversity and cohesion within the party.
Sanwo-Olu used the occasion to announce the return of Lagos State’s cultural festival, scheduled for December 27 — the first in nearly ten years. He said the event would celebrate the state’s heritage, with about 10,000 residents expected to participate in festival attire.
On the forum’s discussions, the governor revealed that national security dominated the agenda, with governors agreeing to present a consolidated set of recommendations to the President. He assured that as chief security officers of their respective states, APC governors remained committed to sustaining peace across the federation.
Reaffirming the forum’s loyalty to President Tinubu, Sanwo-Olu described him as a steady and exemplary leader guiding the country through a defining moment.
“We have resolved to stand firmly behind the President and ensure that his administration achieves its goals for Nigeria,” he said.
He also celebrated the forum’s expansion under the leadership of Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinma, noting that the number of APC governors has risen to 25 — an indication, he said, of Nigerians’ growing confidence in the party.
Sanwo-Olu thanked the governors for acknowledging Lagos as a model of progressive governance and assured residents that the state would continue to deliver on its responsibilities at all levels.
“As we approach the festive period, I urge our party members and Lagosians to uphold unity and remain focused. Lagos will continue to champion progress for our party and our country,” he added.
