JESUS’ RIGHT-STANDING
RUBS OFF ON US

Hebrews 2:17 reads: “Therefore, in all things, He had to be a merciful and faithful High Priest in things pertaining to God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people”.

*Jesus was recreated like you and I to be ‘good enough’ sacrifice for our sins. God’s Son, Jesus, was remade like us to appease God for our sins. And you better believe it !

*In the times of Old, the High Priest’s right-standing rubbed off on Israelites and their animals for sacrifice. Any animal for sacrifice which was pronounced clean by the high priest, was clean.

*If the high priest were in a state of sin, Israel was considered to be in a state of sin. So, God recreated Jesus in the form of sinners before pronouncing Him ‘good enough’ for sacrifice on our behalf.

*Right now in heaven, Jesus sits at the right hand of God as our High Priest (Romans 8:34). And God looks at Jesus, not us.

*Inasmuch as Jesus is pronounced good and clean in the eyes of God, we are good and clean through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ.

*Knowing that we have been forgiven and made righteous by the sacrifice of Jesus and not ours, we need to also forgive our brothers and sisters unconditionally; just as God forgave us through Christ.

*Let us not limit the number of times we forgive because we are now in Christ and His right-standing, merciful and forgiving nature should rub off on us (Matthew 18:21-22).
