To all the Die-hard World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) fans out there, yesterday was a spectacle. WrestleMania Sunday delivered with a few welcomed and some not so expected surprises to grace the show. None more so than the Award winning rapper and song writer, Travis Scott, turning up mid main event to a raucous reception. A record breaking event which saw John Cena clinch his 17th title to surpass the great Ric Flair a.k.a “The Nature Boy”.
Recall that the Texas native first turned up few weeks ago with “the Rock” Dwayne Johnson, to recruit John Cena in the ring and to the greatest surprise of the WWE family, an unexpected turn of events saw Cena turn heel, taking sides with the Rock and Travis which led to a brutal beat down of the then Universal WWE champion Cody Rhodes, who was just as shocked but a lot more battered and bruised than the crowd in attendance.
Upon his return, Scott would once again prove to be a tenacious torn in the flesh of Cody, who this time, on the biggest stage of all, lost the Universal Heavyweight Championship to arguably the greatest of all time John Cena. A contrasting result to the one he had the year before but nonetheless entertaining for the WWE fanbase. Travis who had to endure a “cross rhodes” for good measure would have no complaints about the outcome as he cut an ecstatic figure whilst celebrating with Cena.
Many have questioned the appearance of Travis Scott branding it unnecessary and lacking in authenticity while others, especially a user on X, @shanejones expressed his excitement saying ” What a show, Travis making an appearance was just the icing on the cake”
In another turn of events just before Cody versus Cena, the legend “Stone Cold” Steve Austin showed up to the endearment of the WWE fanbase with many expressing unbridled excitement and near madness in the crowd.
To the millions and millions of the many followers of the WWE, we definitely can’t wait for the next chapter, closure or plot twist in this much anticipated storyline. For John Cena, perhaps this marks his final in ring performance in WrestleMania ever, and it was well worth the wait.
