Perception is shaped by actions, a double-edged sword we as humans must always contend with. Yet victory comes when positive impact outweighs mistakes, and growth is reflected in the lessons learned along the way.
Today, we listen to the voices of the people of Aba North/South, a candid reflection and analysis of their leader, Hon Alex Mascot Ikwechegh, Representative of the Aba North and Aba South constituency. By all accounts, his constituents share a strong and consistent approval of his dedication and commitment to their welfare.

Hon. Ikwechegh’s body of work clearly demonstrates his devotion to his people, with notable achievements across the health, commerce, education, and infrastructure sectors. His influence continues to shape lives positively throughout the constituency.
While education holds a special place in his mandate, his accomplishments in the power sector are equally impressive. With more than 3,500 solar-powered streetlights installed and over 20 electricity transformers provided, he has illuminated communities, enabling safer environments and supporting both commercial and personal activities across the districts.
Having built and renovated and equipped various schools and educational institutions, over 2000 students have benefitted from his educational initiatives, ranging from free classroom materials to full university scholarships; thereby impacting the lives of citizens for the better.
Free vocational training has also been widely accessible, supporting individuals with creative or technical aspirations.
The new Outlook news caught up with Chidera, one of many beneficiaries of the educational scholarship program, she shared how the support changed her trajectory: “I never imagined I’d make it to university,” she said. “This scholarship didn’t just pay my fees—it gave me hope. It made me feel seen.”
Aba has long stood as a commercial hub, and Ikwechegh’s innovative training programs have empowered over 5,000 residents to excel in various Small and Medium-Scale Enterprises (SMEs). Trades such as tailoring, cosmetology, panel installation, tiling, solar system setup, electrical work, and shoemaking have helped residents achieve new levels of independence and economic stability, made possible through his relentless commitment to service.

Chidi, a young entrepreneur trained through the SME empowerment initiative, echoed similar appreciation: “Before the training, I didn’t have a direction,” he explained. “Now I run my own small tiling business. I can take care of myself and help my family. It’s a new beginning
A true reflection of one’s heart is best revealed by what they do for others. Long before venturing into politics, Alex Ikwechegh was known for his benevolence and empathy toward those in need. His humanitarian outreach across Abia State has fed, clothed, and sheltered countless local families. Through the Alex Mascot Foundation, he has distributed food, clothing, petrol, and relief materials to both humanitarian organizations and residents.
Felix, an artisan who received relief materials from the foundation, expressed heartfelt gratitude, describing the support as a “free gift” that brought a smile from ear to ear.

As 2026 unfolds, an array of new projects lies ahead, with the lawmaker determined to further elevate his constituency. An astute motionist and a brilliant mind, Hon. Ikwechegh continues to inspire optimism. The people of Aba North and South undoubtedly have much to look forward to.
