GOD IS FOR EVERYONE.
While I was on a trip to the USA with the National Secretary of the Progressive People’s Alliance PPA, Dahiru Abdullalhi, many years ago; Dahiru got chatting with our lady taxi driver who at some point exclaimed, “man stop that, God is for everyone.
*As at then, I wasn’t sure the lady chauffeur was right or wrong because I hadn’t become the media evangelist that I am today; and therefore, could not contribute to the debate of the moment.
*Had i known what I know now, I am sure I would have got into the conversation in support of the taxi driver in New York; but with some more elucidation.
*Jeremiah 32:27 says:”Behold I am the Lord, the God of all flesh. Is there anything too hard for me?” God is responsible for every man or woman, sinner or righteous.
*However, Christianity, the religion to which I belong and profess, emphasises that we must believe in Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God, to be saved.
*John 3:16 says:”For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life.”
*Although God is for everyone, salvation is for every believer in Jesus Christ and His gospel, sacrifice and death on the Cross of Calvary.
*This does not mean that God is not for non-Christians or sinners. God cares for all flesh and encourages all to repent and seek salvation in readiness for the life after. When Jesus was in the world, He healed everyone who believed in Him, irrespective of religion.
*Matthew 15:27 says:”And she said, yes Lord, yet even the little dogs eat the crumbs which fall from their masters’ table.” This was the story of the Canaanite woman who sought healing for her devil-possessed daughter, even before it was time for the gospel to reach the gentiles. All the same, Jesus healed the woman’s daughter, even though healing was not meant for the gentiles at that time.
*Psalms 145:9 says:”The Lord is good to all, and His tender mercy is over all that He has made.” While the foregoing is true; with the coming of Jesus Christ, there is now a new covenantal promise of salvation and everlasting life for believers in Christ and His gospel.
*God is for everyone; but everyone can only be for God through repentance and believing in Jesus Christ.
