SAM NKIRE ON SUNDAY

FINISHING A FINISHED WORK.

*John 19:30 says: “So, when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, “It is finished.” And bowing His head, He gave up His spirit. It is finished in Greek also means “paid in full, complete payment or mission accomplished.”

*Jesus’ last words “it is finished” also symbolises the accomplishment and the fulfilment of the old testament prophesies about the coming sacrifices of the messiah and saviour of the world; who would die for the sins of mankind.

*To work, labour and struggle to make yourself righteous will amount to trying to complete a job which Jesus Christ the Son of God had finished on our behalf on the Cross of Calvary, about 2000 years ago.

*Hebrews 4:10-11 says:”. . . he who has entered His rest has himself also ceased from his works as God did from His. Let us therefore be diligent to enter that rest. . . “

*Your work or part therefore, is to enter that rest which Jesus achieved for us on the Cross, and believe that our saviour Jesus Christ had finished the work, paid in full, accomplished the mission which God the Father sent Him to come and do on our behalf, for our redemption and salvation.

*Today, God wants us to start trusting more than worrying and struggling. God wants us to start believing in the benefits of His love and Grace for and upon us.

*The only work left for us is to enter His rest in absolute surrender; not to engage in trying to finish a finished job.
