MID-WEEK SERMON BY SAMUEL NKIRE

WHEN MUCH SPEAKING BECOMES UNWISE

*Matthew 6:7-8 says: “And when you pray, do not use vain repetitions as the heathens do, for they think that they will be heard for their much speaking or many words. Therefore, do not be like them. For your Father knows the things you have need of before you ask Him.”

*Let us therefore, always pray to the point and not try to make a show of prayer. Let us not attempt to impress those around us with polished language; or even try to manipulate God, as that in itself will not be productive.

*We should as much as possible pray short and simple prayers, pointing to God’s words and promises to us, as well as our inheritance in Christ Jesus.

*Our prayers should make reference to and draw strength from the completed, finished work and sacrifice of Jesus on the Cross of Calvary; which entitles us to the claims we make.

*A believer in the gospel of Jesus Christ is entitled to every good thing of life, such as good health, good house, good family; name it.

*3 John 1:2 affirms these entitlements, in that it says: “Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers.”

*It is, therefore, unwise and ungodly for a Christian to try to hide the truth with much speaking because the Bible says in Proverbs 10:19 that:”In the multitude of words, sin is not lacking, but he who restrains his lips is wise.”

*When as a leader, pastor or politician, you engage in much speaking, with the intention to confuse, deceive and intimidate the people under you; instead of speaking to the solution to their needs, note that “sin is not lacking.”

*We should always speak little, speak the word of God; speak wisdom, speak solution.
