MID-WEEK SERMON BY SAMUEL NKIRE

SPEAKING IN TONGUES PROPHESIED BEFORE THE COMING OF CHRIST.

*It is not surprising that many people, including some Christians, do not believe, or rather, make light of speaking in an unknown tongues in church.

*This is because even the Prophet Isaiah himself had foretold it in his book, Isaiah 28:28:11-12 where he said:”For with stammering lips and another tongue He will speak to the people. To whom He said, this is the rest with which you may cause the weary to rest, and this is the refreshing; yet they would not hear.”

*The first act of speaking in tongues happened in the book of Acts of the Apostles 2:1-4, on the day of Pentecost, when suddenly the people of God who had gathered were all filled with the Holy Spirit and they “began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.” This also was disputed by some people of that generation.

*Now, to address one of the blessings that come with speaking in tongues, Ephesians 3:20 says:”Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us.”

*When we pray, especially in tongues, it releases the power that works in us, which God deposited in us through the Spirit of Jesus Christ, to help us in times of need and weakness.

*If speaking in tongues were no use, the Bible would not have recommended it as a weapon to fight off the devil and build up your faith.

*Jude 1:20 says:”But you, beloved, building yourselves up in your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit.”

*Don’t shut up, speak the word of God, out; pray in the Holy Spirit, no matter the stammering of your lips. Use the power in you to get what you need God to do for you. Speaking in tongues is of God, it is righteous and scriptural.
