MID-WEEK SERMON BY SAMUEL NKIRE

WHAT WE HAVE FROM GOD IS LOVE, NOT LUCK.

*Many of us, sometimes, tend to fall for the temptation of ascribing our good fortune to luck instead of God’s love and blessings.

*For the Christian believer, good things happen or come to us by the grace, will and love of God for us. We believe that God loves and blesses us because of His beloved Son, Jesus Christ, in whom we are.

*Deuteronomy 8:18 says:”And you shall remember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day.”

*A Christian is taught to give all the honour and praise to the Almighty God who sent His only begotten Son, Jesus, to come to the world to die and be poor, so that we can be rich and have everlasting life.

*2 Corinthians 8:9 also says:”For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sake He became poor, that you through His poverty might become rich.”

*From the foregoing (Deuteronomy 8:18 and Corinthians 8:9), it is obvious that the life of a true Christian believer follows a pre-ordained course, and not dependent on either chance or luck; or excessive toiling and sweating.

*It must also be noted that God’s love and blessings to us are not just meant for us to acquire luxury goods but for us to also show love and bless others, grow the church and empower the community. The more we give the more we receive.

*Proverbs 11:24 says:”There is one who scatters, yet increases more; and there is one who withholds more than is right, but it leads to poverty.” We are loved because we are in the Beloved; not lucky.
