MTN Reshuffles Leadership as Karl Toriola Expands Role Across Francophone Africa

From Marcus Nkire

MTN Group has announced a major leadership shakeup, with Karl Toriola, CEO of MTN Nigeria, taking on an expanded role as Vice President for Francophone Africa starting November 1, 2025. He’ll now oversee key markets including Cameroon, Côte d’Ivoire, Benin, and Congo Brazzaville, while continuing to lead Nigeria’s operations.

Toriola’s appointment is part of a broader restructuring aimed at accelerating growth as MTN refines its Ambition 2025 strategy. The company says it will now place stronger emphasis on connectivity, fintech, and digital infrastructure amid shifting market dynamics.

Other major changes include Ferdi Moolman stepping in as CEO of MTN South Africa, replacing Charles Molapisi, who returns as Group Chief Technology and Information Officer to lead the company’s push into AI. Yolanda Cuba has been named Deputy CEO of MTN SA, while Ebenezer Asante takes on a new role overseeing Ghana and Southern & East Africa.

Group CFO Tsholofelo Molefe will now also lead M&A, consolidating capital allocation under finance. Selorm Adadevoh is adding Strategy and Transformation to his portfolio, and Chika Ekeji will step back from the executive committee to scale MTN’s emerging platform businesses.

The Group is also preparing for upcoming board changes, with Sindi Mabaso-Koyana set to become Chairperson of MTN South Africa in early 2026, and Paul Norman, Group HR chief, retiring at the end of that year.

MTN says the new structure is designed to ensure faster strategy execution and sustained growth beyond 2025.
