AS ABRAHAM’S DESCENDANT, YOUR FAITH IS ACCOUNTED FOR RIGHTEOUSNESS.
*Genesis 15:5-6 says: Then He brought him (Abraham) outside and said ,”look now toward heaven, and count the stars if you are able to number them.” And He said to him, “so shall your descendants be.” And he believed the Lord, and He accounted it to him for righteousness.
*Abraham who had a child at an old age of 100 years, believed God that he was going to have children as numerous as the stars. And his faith was accounted to him for righteousness.
*Today, Abraham is regarded as the father of all those who believe that they have righteousness imputed to them, not by work or circumcision but by faith (Romans 4:11-12).
*Galatians 3;6-9 says: Just as Abraham “believed God and it was accounted to him for righteousness”; therefore know that only those who are sons of Abraham. . . those who are of faith are blessed with believing Abraham.”
*To benefit from Abraham’s blessings and righteousness, you must be a man or woman of faith, just like the Abraham of the Bible. You mustn’t be of Abraham’s lineage, but must be defined by acts of faith to become his true spiritual descendants and heirs of his righteousness.
*Today, many Gentiles (non-Jews) are accepted in the family of God through Jesus Christ who is both a physical and spiritual descendant of Abraham; who also became the Saviour of Israel and the world (John 4:42).
