MID-WEEK SERMON BY SAMUEL NKIRE

CAST DOWN IMAGINATIONS; DISCIPLINE YOUR THOUGHT LIFE.

*The ‘b’ part of 2 Chronicles 10: 5 says:”. . . bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ.”

*A follower and believer of the gospel of Jesus Christ must not fall back into sin but must discipline his or her thought life and control his or her thought processes, by rejecting or casting down all satanic imaginations capable of leading the believer astray or away from the will of God.

*This should not be a matter of ‘can’t help’ because we have the ability to choose or reject what we want to think, imagine, or not by the grace of God.

*Proverbs 23:7 says:”For as he thinks in his heart, so is he. Eat and drink, he says to you, but his heart is not with you.” This goes to show that we are in charge of our hearts and minds and can discipline them if we choose.

*If it were not possible for us to discipline our thought life, God won’t bother us with an impossible task; thus, He spoke through Apostle Paul in Philippians 4:8 “Finally brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are just, whatever things are noble, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy – meditate on these things.”

*From the above, God wants us to, day and night, meditate on good and pure things and not bad and evil things that bring no praise to Him.

*In conclusion, the book of Romans 12:2 says we should not be conformed to this world, rather we should invite Jesus to renew our minds to become what God wants us to be, according to His will and purpose for our lives.
