MID-WEEK SERMON BY SAMUEL NKIRE

THE COMING OF THE MESSIAH PROPHESIED

Isaiah 9:6 foretold: “For unto us a child is born, unto us a child is given, and the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Councelor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”

*After Adam sinned and got kicked out of the Garden of Eden, there arose a need for God to send His son Jesus Christ to come and finish the job of counselling and saving of mankind, which Adam was unable to do.

*Adam was man and flesh but Jesus came as one hundred percent God and one hundred percent man; Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace, who couldn’t fall for the little pranks of the devil, while He was on earth.

*ln fulfilment of many prophesies (Isaiah 7:14 and others), which foretold that Mary the mother of Jesus would bear a child without knowing any man; Jesus was born in a manger in Bethlehem for the sole purpose of dying to serve as a sacrifice for the sins of the world.

*Luke 2:12 says: “And this will be a sign to you: you will find a Babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.” Being born and wrapped in swaddling clothes; and laid in a manger was a sign He was ‘born to die for us to live’, if we believe in Him and what He did on the Cross to set us free from sin and save us from hell.

*The Christmas period is not just a period for merriment but a time to reflect on God’s love for us, which made Him sacrifice the life of His Only Begotten Son for us to live.
