Corruption a massive hindrance to National Productivity- Former Senate President, Anyim.P.Anyim

A former Senate President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Sen Anyim Pius Anyim has directed a brewing vim of disappointment towards corruption and it’s negative influence on national productivity and steady growth in the country.

Speaking during his keynote address at the Forum of Former Deputy Governors of Nigeria’s (FFDGN) 4th annual conference in Abuja, yesterday. Anyim revealed ” It is no secret that historically, corruption is one of the factors I know that has stunted the progress of the country. When the military struck in 1966, they claimed to come to rule out nepotism, but ended up taking away took away federalism”

He also advised that a committed effort by public servants and citizens alike was the primary platform to turn the corner and instigate a positive narrative shift in the minds nigerians.

Anyim continued “State commitments to national aspirations and togetherness between all levels of citizens is the only way to change this mentality”

The annual event is aimed at strengthening leadership and capacity to promote good governance amongst state leaders, as such foundational building blocks are imperative for nation building.

The Chairman of FFDGN and former Deputy Governor of Abia State, Hon Chris Akomas whose chairmanship tenure became extended by a further 3 years sought to create dialogue and bring to the fore, burning national issues to attention.

His ground breaking alliance with the Polish-Nigerian Business Council yielded in the establishment of various successful small, medium and large scale businesses which were deservedly awarded on the day.

Akomas’s influential regime is an epitome of productivity, driving the force of collaboration and industrialization to create a self- reliant Nigeria. He said ” If we can strengthen the leadership to provide for our people, create jobs and build wealth amongst our people, we can still do much more through collaboration to get the best and the most cost effective outcome”.

The discourse was had in the presence of both former and incumbent deputy governors and state leaders.

The Minister for labour and employment, Alh. Muhammadu Maigari Dingyadi, standing-in for the former governor of Sokoto state, and now senator representing the sokoto north district, Alh. Aliyu Wamako was also in attendance. He congratulated the achievements of FFDGN hailing it as a game changer in Nigeria’s economical space.
