WHY DO SOME PREACHERS NOT DO WHAT THEY PREACH?
*So it was also in the beginning, with the Pharisees, preachers and teachers of old. They preached what most of them hardly practised.
* Although the preacher occupies a high office, let us also not forget that man, preacher or not, is naturally fallible and exposed to temptations, just as Adam and Eve faced; and which everyone, pastor or church member still grapples with today.
*Jesus Christ, knowing the hypocrisy of some pastors and preachers, most of whom are spiritually immature and weak, warned worshippers in Matthew 23:3, saying:”So you must be careful to do everything they tell you, for they do not practise what they preach”.
*In Luke 12:15, Christ also warned the faithful against the greed of some preachers saying:”Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; life does not consist in abundance of possessions”.
*This warning can also be extended to both pastors and worshippers of today who emulate the lifestyles of people of the world; who do everything it takes to acquire material possessions, among other ills.
*The fallibility of man is not a justification for a pastor or worshipper not to keep to the ‘easy’ tenets of the gospel of Jesus Christ; for the Bible says that everyone will give account of himself to God (Romans 14:12).
